Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Olive Oil (other oils or a mixture of oils can be used such as:  almond, sunflower or safflower oil, grapeseed, etc.)
  • 3 tbsp Ontario Beeswax
  • 3 Vitamin E capsules
  • 6 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • Heat Safe Glass such as glass measuring cup or ceramic bowl
  • Small saucepan with 2” water
  • 1 or 2 glass or ceramic containers to store the Lip Balm in

Directions

This recipe is very simple and the ingredients are easy to find

1.      Have the glass or ceramic containers ready to receive the melted wax along with the essential oil which are added at the end

2.      Place saucepan with approximately 2” water on stove set at medium heat

3.      In the heat safe glass combine the olive oil and beeswax

4.      Use scissors to snip the gel caps of the Vitamin E oil and squeeze out into the mixture

5.      Place heat safe glass or ceramic bowl inside saucepan with the heating water – creating a makeshift double-boiler.  Make sure the water is not so high that it will pour over the edges of your heat safe glass.

6.      Use medium heat to melt, making sure the wax is completely melted.  The mixture will be a golden colour.  (Do not use high heat to melt the wax because it could catch fire.  Never leave the stove unattended while melting wax)

7.      Remove from heat and add the Pepperrmint Essential Oil

8.      Immediately pour mixture into waiting containers and let cool.  The cooled wax will turn an off white colour

Makes about 1 cup of foot balm.
